Health Concerns

Edit Template

There is increasing scientific evidence suggesting potential adverse effects of synthetic food additives on health, particularly in children. Some additives have been linked to endocrine disruption and other health issues. Concerns are heightened for minority and low-income populations who may experience disproportionate exposure.

Certain common food additives have been identified as potentially harmful. For example, some artificial food colorings and preservatives have been associated with hyperactivity in children. Additionally, specific emulsifiers used in ultra-processed foods may negatively impact gut health by altering the gut microbiota and increasing intestinal permeability.
