Mona Y. Obaid

Vice Chair, executive committee

Mona Obaid, a former marketing executive, has a remarkable personal history, having triumphed over the dual challenges of cancer and Food Addiction. For more than 20 years, she grappled with weight and food-related issues. However, since achieving stable recovery in the fall of 2016, Mona has transformed her struggles into a powerful source of strength and dedicated herself to helping others on similar journeys. Under the mentorship of Sachir Ajlouni, she has not only navigated her own recovery but has emerged as a beacon of hope for those battling food dependencies and weight concerns.

Mona holds certification as a Food Addiction Professional from the European Board for Food Addiction, solidifying her expertise in this crucial area. She is a cofounder of Aglon Recovery, an innovative recovery center that provides compassionate solutions and a clear pathway to recovery from eating disorders, particularly for individuals in the SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) region.

As the vice chair of the Food Addiction Institute, she is dedicated to raising awareness and expanding resources related to Food Addiction. Through her advocacy and commitment, Mona empowers others to reclaim their lives, promoting a compassionate approach to recovery that fosters hope, resilience, and lasting transformation.
